Legal Counsel

Dumarca Gaming Ltd, is a global online gaming operator with flagship online casino brands Vera&John and Intercasino in 13 countries worldwide. Dumarca Gaming Ltd. is part of Jackpotjoy Group, a subsidiary of JPJ Group plc which owns online bingo & casino brands such as JackpotJoy, Starspins, Botemania, Costa Bingo and Slot Crazy. 

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, the Group Legal Counsel will work within a small team to provide comprehensive commercial advice to the business, make decisions that drive the business forward and ensure all commercial contracts are effectively managed and delivered in a timely manner.  

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Working in close contact with internal stakeholders, this position involves; 

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements for the Group e.g. supply and license agreements, purchasing agreements, distribution agreements and service agreements;
  • Managing existing and creating new processes to ensure the timely management of all manners of legal work across the business, including the communication of progress and signing procedures;
  • Advise on data protection, advertising, promotion, marketing, procurement, e-commerce, corporate, competition, regulatory matters, compliance and dispute resolution;
  • Assist with the management of JPJ’s IP portfolio of intellectual property rights;
  • Assisting the Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary with project management and collaboration of multiple stakeholders to deliver key projects;
  • Providing accurate and timely legal advice on a range of ad hoc queries;
  • Maintaining current knowledge of relevant legislative changes;
  • Providing support to the Company Secretarial function, on an as required basis;
  • Acting as point of contact for Data Protection considerations, dealing with relative, supervisory authorities and internal teams to identifying and evaluating our data processing activities and related best practices.
  • Providing advice and instructions on how to conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
  • Demonstrate flexibility in balancing achievement of own objectives with abilities to understand and respond to organisational needs;
  • Continually assess systems to identify gaps and what could be improved or automated.

The above duties should give an overall picture of the employee’s day to day responsibilities but should in no way be deemed to be an exhaustive list, additional, related, duties may be assigned by the manager in line with business exigencies and continuity.

SKILLS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Qualified and Warranted individual with a Legal degree and with at least 3 years of post-warrant experience;
  • Ability to identify and take advantage of creative solutions that demonstrably assist the business in delivering its business outcomes;
  • Ability to build lasting and effective relationships, be seen as a trusted counsellor, and have integrity and a straight forward approach;
  •   Experience of working in a fast-paced, complex business;
  • Ability to work on own initiative, planning and monitoring progress of workloads and meeting deadlines;
  • Strong commercial and interpersonal skills;
  • Organised and able to adapt to an ever-changing environment with conflicting commercial needs;
  • Strong influencing skills required in an autonomous and decentralised business;
  • Knowledge of and preferably experience within the I-gaming industry;
  • Experience and interest in working within a fast paced, multinational company;
  • A fun and outgoing personality with strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • A meticulous approach with an eye for detail and a personal value towards confidentiality, professionality, and integrity.
